Located on George Street in Cromarty, on the south side of the entrance to Cromarty Firth.

Thomas Watson was appointed as Superintendent and David Mitchell from Montrose was the contractor responsible for the buildings. It was built at an estimated cost of £3,030 and became operational in 1846. It was automated in 1985, and the light was switched off in 2006 following a review of lights around the UK.
