This lighthouse in on the headland at the junction of the Clyde with the Kyles of Bute, the loch separating the Isle of Bute from the mainland. It is accessible by road, just off the end of the A815 highway south of Innellan, at the village of Toward. It can be seen from the Ferry from Wemyss Bay, nr Skelmorlie on the mainland to Rothesay on the Isle of Bute. The smaller building is the foghorn house which originally contained a steam engine and then diesel engines, to drive the compressors that powered the foghorn. It was taken out of operation in the 1990s.
