Cogges Manor Farm

Witney, Oxfordshire

Quick Guide
See below grid for details

Cogges Manor Farm is a collection of Cotswold stone farm buildings grouped around a farmyard together with a manor house. It has a peaceful orchard and a sun-drenched walled garden. It is located in the centre of Witney in Oxfordshire, but the tranquillity of the site does not give notice to the bustling town centre nearby, and the fields and woods disguise its Saxon origins.

This hauntingly beautiful historic Cotswold farmstead is evolving into a 21st century smallholding and place to find out about producing real food.

This former museum is now operated by the Cogges Heritage Trust and has taken on a new lease of life since 2011. It is within easy walking distance of Witney town centre that is just across the river Windrush.

Visitors can now:-

  • find out about the history of the site and its buildings

  • Visit the ground floor of the house (weekends and Bank Holidays)

  • explore the gardens and site following their special trail

  • take a river stroll

  • watch the progress of ex-battery rescue chickens

  • for children there is A Mud Pie Kitchen with activities taking place such as, make a wind chime, bake a loaf of bread, play with dressing up clothes and more

  • visit the cafe for refreshments.

Amongst the events taking place there is a Real Food Market held on the 1st and 3rd Sunday's of the month. Visit their website for up to date events and activities taking place.

There are many photo-opportunities both on the Farm and around the nearby ancient town.

Notes:

This page is a Quick Guide, the idea of Quick Guides is to allow very basic information and linking forward information to be added to the system rather than having to wait until a full location guide has been developed. It should therefore be considered a development stage rather than a finished objective. Once more information is known the objective is to create either a Location or Featured Location page which has two grids and far more information.

Please let us know any other information that we can add to the Grid(s) or page and any errors that you discover. Before making a long trip to any location it is always wise to double check the current information, websites like magazines may be correct at the time the information is written, but things change and it is of course impossible to double check all entries on a regular basis. If you have any good photographs that you feel would improve the illustration of this page then please let us have copies. In referring to this page it is helpful if you quote both the Page Ref and Topic or Section references from the Grid below. To print the planning grid select it then right click and print the selected area.

Please submit information on locations you discover so that this system continues to grow.
