Fleet Air Arm Museum

Said to have the largest collection of Naval aircraft in Europe. This is an indoor attraction with the museum having 4 large halls. It covers the stories of naval aviation from the first manned kites towed behind naval vessels, to helium filled airships, seaplanes, bi-planes and the carrier borne aircraft of World War 2 through to today's Sea Harriers and helicopters.

Hall 3 contains the Aircraft Carrier Experience where 2 huge projection screens together with a real Phantom aircraft take you through a simulated launch sequence, experiencing the sounds of a working flight deck and more.

Hall 4 is where you find out more about the theory of flight but it also contains the first British built Concorde and two delta wing test aircraft.

Other attractions include: a triple screen Flight Deck experience, Merlin helicopter Interactive, Super X flight simulator, a nuclear bomb, operational Naval Air station and a viewing gallery over the airfield, where depending on what operations are ongoing during your visit you get to see the modern day aircraft and helicopters going through their procedures.

So much to see and absorb it is suggested at least 4 hours is allowed for your visit. An indoor family attraction open all year round.
