Nottingham Goose Fair

4th to 8th October 2017 Forest Recreation Ground, Nottingham. Biggest travelling fair in Europe with 500 attractions including white knuckle rides, crafts marquee, market stalls, and food.

05/10/2017 Light Night Leeds 5th and 6th October 2017. 6pm-11pm. Merrion Gardens, Leeds. The first night there is a lantern parade, light night rid and light night art run plus 90 giant glowing dandelions. On the Friday showcases The Falls a 100ft digital waterfall on the Queens Hotel. Banbury Hobby Horse and Folk Festival

6th to 8th October 2017. Banbury, Oxon. 1pm. A procession from the Town Hall to Peoples Park via the High St and Banbury Cross. Banbury's Hobby Horse Festival features everything from Morris dancing and tours to theatrical performances, hobby horse races and processions.

Golden Spurtle World Porridge Making Championships

Carrbridge, Inverness-shire. 10.30am-4pm. The World Porridge Making Championship procession led by a pipe band from Old Bridge to the Village Hall takes place at 11.30am with the competition starting at 12.15pm with prize giving presentations at 3pm. Other activities during the day include craft stalls, product tasting, cookery demonstrations, live music and street entertainment.

Marlborough Mop Fairs

7th and 14th October 2017 High Street, Marlborough, Wiltshire. Now a fun fair, but originally was a hiring fair for people looking for work and employers looking for staff. They are thought to have been held for over 250 years.

13th to 165th October 20167 North Yorkshire Moors Railway, Yorkshire. They turn the clocks back to Wartime Britain with entertainers, street parades, vehicle displays and re-enactments along the railway helping to bring back the nostalgia of the period.

Hastings, Sussex. 7:15pm a torchlit procession starts in Hastings Old Town, then moves along the sea front to the New Town and the beach opposite Pelham Place for a large bonfire and firework display at 9pm.

Bankside outside Shakespear's Globe, London starts at 12noon. A procession including the Corn Queen, Hobby Horse and Berry Man (a variant of the traditional Green Man) will lead people to Borough Market, where there is also a special Apple Day Food Fair. 28th and 29th October 2017 Spreaderhill Farm, Crimond, Fraserburgh AB43 8RR. Ploughing is from 9.30am-2pm. The winners from this match go on to compete in the Nationals.
