Using Your Photographs

Projects * Planning * More on Waterfalls *

Most photographers have at least some good photographs, some many thousands, the majority will be somewhere between these extremes. But what do we do with them, besides putting a few on the wall, and maybe cerate a portfolio.

The article What to do with your photos looks at this and how to start to look at what you have now and what you want to get more of, while the What to do with your photos - classification list is a

suggestion of classification to allow you to start to think about what you have or wish to have.

The article what to do with your countryside photographs, takes a section of this classification and considers some of the uses for these photos, also linking to many other articles we have giving more details and information on particular uses.

Expanding our coverage of waterfalls and the photography of them that we started in a new section last week, we have an article  Planning a Waterfall Trip , and a Project  - a budget trip to photograph Niagara Falls (USA)   which looks at how you can make a trip to photograph Niagara Falls for under £400 including flights, transport and accommodation. If you missed the waterfall coverage last week either take a look in the recent editions or go to the Waterfall Section.

In one of last weeks articles we suggested that the weekend would be a good time to get out and photograph a waterfall. On Saturday we followed the advice ourselves, and photographed 8 or maybe more, that form the Ingleton Waterfall Trail. This has large and small waterfalls, in a variety of styles and variations, and in some cases its difficult to work out where one finishes and the next begins. This 4.5 mile trek along two rivers, has something to see at just about every turn. In addition to the waterfalls we photographed a heron both stationery and in-flight, plus a very tame Robin up close.  You can see what we discovered in the group of location guides on the Ingleton Waterfall Trail, and two picture galleries are in preparation and should be added at some point.

Another month rolls by, and its time for us to add the Photographers Diary for March and move the pages forward, as next month becomes this month. This will get done over the next couple of days.

In February we have the annual Focus On Imaging show, from the 22nd to 25th, at the NEC Birmingham. Doors open 10am each day. This is the major photographic show in the UK for photographers. You can find out more by clicking  Focus on Imaging, you can register now to get a free ticket and also download the floor plan of the show, allowing you to see who is there and to work out which stands you don't want to miss. Last year 33,437 people attended, up from 32,018 in 2007, it will be interesting to see what the attendance is like this year.  Usually at this show there are a load of special offers, and given the state of the economy this year, I expect we will see some real bargains.
